India is a place where all festivals are celebrated with enjoyment. Each year the worship of the" mrimayee murti' (idols made of earth) of different hindu God and Goddess are being celebrated in different parts of country starting from August and september till february . It starts from Lord Ganesh, Khudurukuni,Biswakarma,Durga, Hara parbati,Gajalaxmi,Kali,Kartkeswar,Laxmi-narayan ,Saraswati and ends with Basanti durga.
Almost nine months are the celebrations of puja of hindu god and goddess are done. These things affect very much the social life of society ,environment so far as noise pollution,water polution are concerned. The young generation behave very much erratically,leaving their work are engaged in unnecessary gossiping,nonsense dancing in procession ,congesting traffic and roads and drinking alcohal. Poor people and middle class people are compelled to contribute generously a heavy amount for puja cutting from their meagre income.Schools and college students are very much affected due to noise by high amplified lodspeakers singing very cheap songs. People of locality are compelled to attend puja celebration leaving their normal day to day works.The whole normal life of sahi or basti become stand still during puja. people who visit the puja mandaps are exploited by being cheated by shopkeepers selling cheaper items in high prices. No where I observe the real vedic silent puja in sacred manner as per the shastras. The worhipers or Pujaks also cheat and thik it as source and season of income. The real value of Vedic Puja and the philosophy is now shattered or completely lost .I feel the sarbajanin pujas or common pujas have turned to be a farce.It has reduced from its main objectives of devloping spirituality to a function of cheap entertainment, unsocial tradition . Again on the day of Bhasani i.e. the day of emersion the whole mass lives become stand still,roads are blocked even for all emergency purposes ,the young mass become crazy with odd dance totally drunk,behaving in primitive way,with high pitched noise of speakers ,air polluting crackers and lastly the Pratimas are emersed in Rivers polluting the clean water with coloured chemicals containing arsenic,lead sulphur and so many other chemicals and with rotten oganic matters like straws and threads piling in huge quantities in the rive bed or embankment.
In old days people were woshiping nature i.e. sky,air,water,earth fire trees, mountains sun moon as god being influenced by the Aryan culture .The real gods are they , the components of nature for whom we are existing who give us life ,health,prosperity.Believe in any God or any religion, but to pollute nature by way of worshiping is no way benificial neither for us nor for our future generations. Now time has come we should think over it seriously and save our future generations from the giant of environmental pollution and leave these wrong way of worshipping God .
