Since When?

I remember being in a park once, sitting on a bench, When I saw a mother asking his son to not cry like a girl, with a girl standing beside him, I assume was his sister.

A family seated in the lounge watching TV when news of a girl raped and beaten to death came and one of the elders hurriedly changed the channel making it obvious that it wasn't suitable to watch such thing with family while the same one cheered and laughed at a movie where the main guy stalked and objectified the girl in the name of "heroism". She was standing in the bus when a gentleman offered to give his seat and she politely refused to say it was okay only when a guy behind her started touching her inappropriately, it wasn't okay and then men bring the subject of women demanding seats in buses, no one demands it, believe me.

A girl became a laughing stock when she unknowingly walked around with a stained shirt in school. She was ashamed to go to school again because boys saw her too.

Scrolling through Facebook I see posts about women accomplishing a lot in life and what I don't fail to notice is that every sentence concerning women starts with "Finally" and ends with "too" as if women can't just achieve anything without it is breaking news. And all my thoughts come to a halt when the next post I see is of a girl stabbed multiple times in her chest because she said no to the guy's advances.  There were times I was stalked and forced to hear or read rape and period jokes from teenage boys and I'm sure if anyone complained to their parents they'll get off with "they are boys they will do that"

No, a boy doesn't get to do that; slut-shaming his class fellow. A man doesn't get to do that; abusing her wife in the name of masculinity. They are superior, you say. They are stronger, you say. Since when is it legal for the superior and stronger to hurt and abuse, if that's the case you say it is? "You're not like other girls, you're funny and smart". Since when does funny and smart become specific for these entities called men?

A girl comes forward in a group to speak for the women and what she hears from her male friends is "hey yo feminist do you even know what the word means?" Since when does feminism become a confusing term? Since the day men started using it irrationally for their every argument against women to shut them down.

The mentality rooted down, the roots becoming stronger each day. Harassment victims attacked for not speaking before when there was time. Yes, there was a time when the police were busy subtly accusing a girl in her hospital bed of having connections with the powerful man who raped her.  So next time you tell a woman that they aren't the only ones having problems and they need to stop being so emotional remember there are countless examples of work homicide against women more than you can even imagine, girls raped by teenage boys and women killed violently by their husbands in places they called their homes.

I swear the day this world starts taking all the trauma and sufferings and the actions of men women have to face with the same disgust and not something that is normal to happen, the way it takes menstruation and abortion, we'll have a somewhat better place to lay our feet on.
